Corona Virus Situation is not an Emergency, it is a War!

This whole thing with Corona Virus Pandemic is serious. How, what, why, who, all these things are not important. How would you take precautions and protect yourself is important.

Another thing is the skewed data processing. Everyone is concentrated on Total Cases vs Died. That ratio comes around 26455/576859 = 4.59% (as of 27 Mar 11.15pm). But, if you think with second order, what matters is the total death vs total recovered. Because, in these total cases, active case’s outcome is uncertain.

The data we need to focus should be total deaths vs total recovered. That ratio is 26455/128377 = 20.61%. (Update 27 Mar, 12 midnight – This is sick, this whole death to recovery ratio is climbing pretty high. I feel that this may shoot up significantly because now healthcare systems are on a threshold.) This was 4.5% when I started tracking. This ratio is rising. This is serious. If you look data of Italy alone, you will find that the ratio of death vs recovered is close to 1:1. I repeat again, death vs recovery ratio is 1:1 in some countries. This thing is serious.

(Data Source: Arcgis Corona Dashboard)

Another thing, we really don’t know how many are affected? We are getting data of only those who are getting tested. How many untested are roaming who knows? Truth to be told, I don’t believe these numbers as well. I think these numbers are not shared transparently. Look at China, they tried to hide it at first. How can we trust these numbers then? Some countries with numbers are only ullu banaoing. They are intentionally not reporting those numbers to the people. These are base numbers, the upper undisclosed limit can be huge, extremely huge.

What we can do?
  • Avoid as much public contact as possible. Quarantine is the best solution. Singapore’s success with corona virus resulted only because of quarantine.
  • Washing your hands, cleaning desks and the things which come in public contact with alcohol. In our home, we don’t need to clean our desk or do an alcohol wipe down, but in office and in local transport, we have to. I know, it is not possible for local transport. Regarding the importance of washing our hands, this video is a must watch – How soap kills the corona virus (Vox).
  • Eating healthy food, especially fruits. They are our immune system. But do care to wash your fruits thoroughly. I rinse the fruits, then submerge for 30 min, then I rinse again. I follow this since previous 10 years.
  • We need to avoid touching our face.
  • Changing bedsheets and pillow covers frequently.

I know these are routine things, but these days, we have to actively follow them.

What if we go in a Full Lock-Down?

Another thing is that we all may have to go into a full lock-down mode. I don’t know the probability of a full lock-down, but it is possible. Many countries ahead of us in time have had to. If that happens, we need to be prepared for our ration supply and emergency cash. In times of a lock-down, your electronic account money may or may not be useful, but cash have been always the king in doomsday situations. Oops, did I say doomsday, perhaps, sorry, but is it wrong to think the improbable? Ration & Cash, remember, a 3 month’s supply? I don’t want a lock-down, and if it doesn’t happen, we can re-deposit cash in the bank, and we can always use the ration. Also, an enough fuel in your vehicles is good too. Who knows what emergency may come.

This is a unique situation. Panic may seem improbable, but they say, precaution is better than cure! Life is the most beautiful thing in this whole universe. All we need to do is take precautions of us and our families for few days. I know, we are gonna ride it out. I feel for those innocents who are being sacrificed in this situation. Let’s hope that spring is around the corner, and flowers will keep on blooming.
Till then,
Do Take Care…

Update 30 Mar Midnight – I’ve stopped updating the numbers in this post. I feel sick with all the bloodbath going. This is not a game where I can update the numbers, these are real people.

Corona Virus Situation is not an Emergency, it is a War!

The monologue in your head should either be crystal clear, like you find in Fleabag; or it should be perfectly silent, like you find in Pushpak… 😉

By the way (btw as an internet slang or as Punekars use 😁),
both, Fleabag (especially s02) and Pushpak are worth it…!

Aren’t you born out of Timeless?

“You would measure time the measureless and the immeasurable.
You would adjust your conduct and even direct the course of your spirit according to hours and seasons.
Of time you would make a stream upon whose bank you would sit and watch its flowing.
Yet the timeless in you is aware of life’s timelessness,
And knows that yesterday is but today’s memory and tomorrow is today’s dream.
And that that which sings and contemplates in you is still dwelling within the bounds of that first moment which scattered the stars into space.

All good things come with time. You can’t rush them. You can’t make them happen on your clock. Sometimes, you can’t make them happen at all. Learning patience has been so damned hard for me.

But I’m honestly getting there, bit by bit. I’m far more patient now, than I once was.

I want so many things. And yeah. I know my dreams, my values, my goals and what they are. I have no illusions about it. I know the chances are slim to f**k for some of them, and reachable for others.

For all of them, I need to breathe. I need to wait. I need calm. Good things grow, they don’t fall out of the sky. Good things must be nurtured, or they’ll whither. Good things must be appreciated for what they are, not undervalued for what they’re not. Good things have to take their own form.

Good things come with time.

On Creativity

One of my favorite photographers is Bruce Percy. I tumbled on his website and found out something which is deeper than clicking a photograph itself.

When you’re creating work, there has to be an element of ‘I don’t know how I got here’, Or ‘I didn’t see this happening’. Otherwise, it’s most probably contrived. Creativity doesn’t work to a plan or a schedule.

Trust yourself, and let got. See where things take you 🙂

Take it from me: I seldom know what it is that I am going to create, and I find it very inspiring to live in a world where perhaps some of my best work hasn’t been created yet, and I have no idea of what it will be, or when it will be.

Just go with the flow.

Wasting Time

“I waste a lot of time, too,” Sachar said. “I’ve always wasted a lot of time. In my twenties, I had some angst about this—about not having a real job, or really wanting one. I would play solitaire, and of course this wasn’t even on the computer, and I’d think, One day I’ll regret all this wasted time.” He put down his napkin and gestured toward the tablecloth, the Austin sun blazing through the windows. “But no, I don’t regret it at all!”
